Reflecting upon 2025, it has been a very busy year at Longe & Co. One of the many roles we have is to work with parents in care proceedings. This can often be emotionally as well as professionally challenging when dealing with such a complex and varied area of law. Very often the outcome of care proceedings is that children are placed permanently away from their biological family. This is understandably upsetting and traumatic for all concerned.
We are however, ending this year on a high as we were successful in working with a parent who managed to discharge a care order and revoke a placement order. The child was about to be placed for adoption which would have meant an even greater obstacle for the parent to overcome. Just before the child was moved, we issued the application on behalf of our client and after perseverance and a lot of hard work, the Court agreed that it was right for the child to return to the care of its parent. This change in circumstances was down to the huge efforts of the parent to change their life around, the dogged determination of Angela Bell at Longe & Co and a very experienced barrister who fought hard in Court. Hearing the Judge in court revoke these orders will always be remembered as a very precious moment.
We hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas.
