A warm hpjv welcome to Ben who joined us on the 19th January earlier this year as a paralegal in our family department.

Originally from Taunton, Ben studied Ancient History, and History at Cardiff University as an undergraduate, then converted to Law and completed a Law conversion course, a Masters in Law, and successfully passing the SQE exams. A Cardiff resident, Ben has experience as a Paralegal working on military deafness personal injury claims.

We asked Ben, What made you decide to join the firm? “I have a particular interest in Family law which I studied when doing my Masters, and the firm came highly recommended to me.”

Ben said about hpjv Solicitors; “I’ve had a fantastic time so far, I am enjoying the variety of work - divorce, finance and also private children work, and care work. Working alongside Jane, Julianne and Rhian has been an inspiration to me, and this is a fantastic opportunity for me. I’m grateful for the time I have spent here, the things I’ve learned so far, and I’m excited about the future.”

Outside of work, Ben likes to read, hike, and is an active reservist as a gunner in 104 regiment of The Royal Artillery, serving since 2020.

Good luck in the role Ben, from all your colleagues.

For most of us, our families are the most important part of our lives and, when things go wrong, it can be difficult to take that first step in seeking help. If this is something that you are going through, your mind may be full of questions about how you can best deal with the situation and protect your family.

Many clients tell us that after the first meeting they feel like a weight has been lifted from their shoulders and that they can move forward feeling reassured that they are being taken care of. This is exactly how we want you to feel – confident that you and your family are in safe hands, you know exactly what to expect and that we will help show you the way forward.

Nobody’s situation is the same, so we make sure you are offered carefully tailored legal and practical advice to suit your personal needs. Indeed, we pride ourselves on our client care in all areas of our work.

Experience shows us that by taking a sensitive and pragmatic approach, we can not only improve your legal position but also improve your emotional wellbeing during what can be an understandably stressful, uncertain and difficult time.

If you have not yet felt confident enough to speak to a lawyer about your family matter, then please contact us today, we offer a free initial 30-minute consultation by phone or in person, with no hidden costs.

Q: How long does conveyancing take?

A: The conveyancing process typically takes around 12–14 weeks, although this can vary depending on the circumstances of the transaction. Every property sale or purchase is different, and there are several factors which may affect how quickly the process can be completed.

Some of the most common factors that can influence timescales include:

* The type of transaction – for example, whether the property is freehold or leasehold.
* The type of property – new build properties, listed buildings, or properties with shared ownership arrangements can sometimes require additional legal work.
* The property chain – if multiple buyers and sellers are involved, delays affecting one transaction can impact everyone in the chain.
* Mortgage approval times – delays can occur if lenders require further information before issuing a formal mortgage offer.
* Searches and enquiries – local authority searches and responses to legal enquiries can sometimes take longer than expected.
* Exchange of contracts delays – if any issues arise during negotiations or paperwork checks, this can extend the timeline.

While some straightforward transactions may complete more quickly, more complex matters can take longer than the average timeframe. Working closely with your conveyancer and responding promptly to requests for information can help keep the process moving as smoothly as possible.

We are members of The Law Society’s Conveyancing Quality Scheme (CQS) which means that you can instruct us in the knowledge that we meet the required standards of technical expertise to provide quality residential conveyancing advice and client service.
