Even OpenAI has run into trade mark problems!

It's one of the best-known names in technology, but OpenAI has been unsuccessful in its attempt to register OPENAI as an EU word trade mark.

Why? Because being well known doesn't automatically mean a name meets the legal requirements for registration.

It's a useful reminder for anyone starting a business, launching a product or investing in their brand.
