Finally, there is action.
"A Birmingham man has become the first person to be charged under the new laws aimed at tackling illegal immigration activity.
Hem Raj, 24, has been accused of advertising illegal services on social media, including allegedly offering advice in relation to fraudulent visa and asylum applications.
He was arrested following an investigation involving the National Crime Agency (NCA) and West Midlands Police. The NCA says Raj has been charged under Section 17 of the Border Security, Asylum and Immigration Act 2025 and is also accused of providing immigration advice unlawfully, contrary to the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999.
Those who exploit the immigration system, provide fraudulent advice, or operate outside the law can cause serious harm to genuine applicants and undermine confidence in the immigration advice sector.
Hopefully, this is the beginning of much stronger enforcement against illegal and fraudulent immigration activity".
