New Separated Parents Information Leaflets.

CAFCASS who represent children in the Family Court don’t believe that children are negatively impacted by parents living separately. They believe that children can cope with separation providing their parents do.

What children are negatively impacted by is conflict.
Amity Mediation Services have therefore come up with an information leaflet that is designed to help parents to understand how conflict feels for children and to look at way of reducing this.

Understanding the emotions that are there when a relationship breaks down both for adults and children can really help to understand why we react the way we do.

There is also some tips on how you can prepare for Family Mediation to try and make sure you get the most from it.

I was going to share the Katie Price video where she attempts Mediation, but it made me cringe so much I couldn’t do it. Our industry has such a battle trying to get any TV shows to use mediation in their programmes. I guess it’s not as dramatic as ‘HAVING YOUR DAY IN COURT’.

Ultimately whether Mediation works or not is down to the participants. If you come into the process with an open mind and put as many options as possible on the table, you are much more likely to find a way forward.

Did you know that The Legal Aid Agency estimate the average cost of resolving family matters through the courts to be between £10,000- £15000 per person. (Legal proceedings and Solicitor costs).

In comparison the average cost of a 3 session Mediation is just £550 per person and may even be FREE if you qualify for Legal Aid.
