The importance of critical illness protection.

Many of you will have seen in the media regarding the presenter of ’place in the sun’ Johnie Irwin’s terminal illness diagnosis.

This article though illustrates the importance of having the right insurances in place. He speaks about when diagnosed as terminal he was given 6 months to live this was two years ago. Now with the majority of life insurance plans this provides terminal illness cover (given less than 12 months to live) but not critical illness cover which provides a pay out of the sum assured at the point of diagnosis of a qualifying condition, so the initial stages.

This was something Johnie didn’t have in place and explains the pressures this brought without it in place. Having to force himself to work on days he wasn’t well enough.

Something I always say to clients when you are ill and battling through diagnoses of cancer etc having the financial protection is crucial and more affordable than people think.
