Another great news story from earlier this year!

In this case, the courts made a decision based solely upon our submission of the notice of appeal form and medical evidence. They did not need to arrange a hearing. It is extremely rare that this happens!

The claimant was delighted and sent out office team a gift once they received their back pay.

Out of the 7 hearings that were scheduled for our clients yesterday, only 2 were actually heard - both claimants awarded enhanced of both.

3 were postponed well in advance due to HMCTS scheduling these at times that clashed with other matters.

1 was postponed in advance as the DWP had failed to provide the bundle. We requested a copy of this from HMCTS weeks before the hearing, however they sent this to us & the appellant only 2 days before the hearing.

1 was postponed on the day as HMCTS had not added the evidence to the file, despite it being emailed to them almost 2 weeks before.

The court service is incredibly overwhelmed at the moment and this is resulting in postponements being made and hearing slots not being utilised.

We are still catching up with our good news posts!!

Here is the outcome of a mandatory reconsideration drafted at the end of 2025 by our Legal Advocate Sonya

In this case the claimant lives with Lyme disease, fibromyalgia, weakness in their left side, IBS and post traumatic stress disorder.

They had been awarded standard rate daily living after the assessment, with an increase to enhanced after the DWP considered the MR.

Enhanced of both components at the first appeal hearing today based solely upon our submissions. The DWP Presenting Officer and Panel agreed with all of our arguments therefore, the Claimant did not need to be asked any questions

The Claimant had been awarded standard daily living and enhanced mobility on our submission of an appeal in 2024, backdated to when the DWP made the decision in January 2023. This appeal had lapsed.

However, we did not feel this was sufficient. The claimant should have been awarded enhanced daily living AND the award previously made in 2024 should have been backdated to when the DWP started the review process in 2021 - under the supersession rules.

The Claimant was on the phone less than 15 mins, with the award of enhanced of both components, being backdated to 2021 agreed orally by the Judge.

We have an incredibly busy day today at PIPP Advocacy, with no less than 7 appeal hearings being scheduled for our legal team, on one single day - by HMCTS.

We think that must be a record for us!

If you are running low on time to return your form, make sure you call the DWP to ask for some extra time. All you need to say is that you need help with the form and that you cannot get an appt. They will generally give up to 12 weeks extra. This will not detriment your case at all.

Another successful appeal hearing whereby the claimant was not asked any questions. The panel made their decisions based upon our extensive legal submissions and the evidence available.

In this case, the claimant had been awarded standard rate daily living previously. We submitted the MR, which again was ignored by the DWP despite referrals to occupational therapy and adult social services.

The panel immediately agreed with our arguments, awarding enhanced daily living and standard mobility until August 2027.

After an extremely busy few months, we are just catching up on our social media posts!

In this case, we were only disputing one activity, the Claimants ability to move around safely.

On joining the appeal hearing call back in February, the Judge confirmed that they had awarded enhanced mobility based upon our legal submissions. This meant that the Claimant did not need to endure any questioning from the Panel.
