A charity golf day with our Head of Personal Injury, Mark Thomason ⛳

Before heading out onto the course at Hawkstone Park, Mark shared what he was most looking forward to: connecting with like-minded people and talking openly about personal injury, including the challenges the industry is facing right now.

The day raised funds for EPIC (Early Palliative Intervention Care), part of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Alongside the golf, there were prizes up for grabs, a halfway house tombola and plenty of great conversation, all in support of an incredibly meaningful cause.

A massive thank you to the organisers for the invitation, and to Rathbones and Integral Legal for sponsoring the day.

Ten years of Kasia – someone very special ❤️🎉

Last week, we gathered to celebrate a wonderful milestone: Katarzyna Gryszun has been with Optimal Solicitors for an entire decade! So, of course, there was cake (a beautiful rainbow one!), presents, plenty of laughter, and a few stories from over the years.

Kasia is one of those people who makes an enormous difference, often without realising just how much she means to everyone around her.

As our Polish translator and Legal Assistant, she’s a familiar and reassuring presence for so many of our clients. When someone has been injured in an accident that wasn’t their fault, navigating a legal claim can feel overwhelming – especially when English isn’t their first language. Kasia helps bridge that gap, making sure our Polish-speaking clients feel heard, understand what’s happening, and know what to expect next.

Her support reaches right across the firm, from preparing written translations to helping our Personal Injury Fast Track team keep cases progressing. And, as her Team Leader puts it, Kasia is someone you can always count on. She gets on with things without fuss, and somehow makes everyone else’s day a little easier. That kind of reliability, kindness, and dedication is worth its weight in gold.

There were plenty of memories from the past ten years to revisit, too – Christmas parties, a few tales that are probably best left untold(!), and the time Kasia and her colleagues climbed Snowdon to raise money for charity. Naturally, she was among those who decided to take the hardest route 🏔️

Perhaps that says quite a lot about her: she’s determined and always willing to take on a challenge.

Kasia, thank you for ten wonderful years. For the countless clients you’ve helped, the colleagues you’ve supported, the laughter you’ve shared, and all the things you do that don’t always get noticed but mean so much.

When we need them, they’re there 🚒

Following Emergency Services Day last month, we wanted to take a moment to recognise the people who are often there for us on some of the most difficult days of our lives. Our Head of Marketing, Edyta Sliwinska, recently had the privilege of spending time with Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, learning more about the realities of life as a firefighter.

No two days are the same. From rescuing animals in distress and tackling moorland fires to responding to serious road traffic collisions, firefighters are there when people and communities need them most.

Through our serious injury work, we often meet people after the immediate emergency is over, when they are beginning to understand how an accident may change their life. Firefighters can be among the very first people at the scene – helping someone when they may be frightened, injured or trapped and every minute matters.

And, of course, Edyta couldn’t leave without being put through her paces! 😄 She tried on the firefighting gear, took the driver’s seat and was challenged to walk with the water hose.

It made for some great photos and videos, but also offered a very small glimpse of just how physically demanding the job can be. What was a fun challenge for Edyta is equipment firefighters may need to work with under enormous pressure, in dangerous and unpredictable circumstances.

Thank you to everyone at Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service for such a warm welcome and for giving us an insight into the people behind the uniform.

And to firefighters and emergency service teams everywhere – thank you for being there when people need you most ❤️
