We're just a month away from 1 July, a key date when it comes to unfair dismissal changes.

Every single person you hire after 1 July will automatically gain the right to claim unfair dismissal after six months, rather than two years, once the change takes effect on 1 January 2027, so if you're waiting until then to do anything it will be too late!

Now is the time to look at your probationary period. Many employers are now considering reducing the length given the risks involved with keeping them at six-months.

Also focus on training and induction, ensuring you're setting your new hires up for success.

Happy Pride Month🌈

A 2025 study by MHFA England found that people do their best work when they feel psychologically safe and truly seen, heard, and valued. Yet stress, depression and anxiety caused 22.1 million lost days, with an average of nearly 23 days off work!

The study found a 25% decline in the number of people who feel able to bring their whole self to work over the past five years, with 51% of LGBTQIA+ people saying this directly impacts their mental health.

When engineered or artificial stone is cut, drilled or shaped it produces an extremely fine dust, known as respirable crystalline silica (RCS). ⚠️

Without the use of proper PPE, RCS dust can be breathed deep into the lungs causing irreversible lung damage such as silicosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), progressive massive fibrosis, chronic bronchitis and lung cancer. ☠️
