Yesterday, I had the pleasure of attending the Mortgage Advisors Expo in Manchester.

It was a great opportunity to connect with mortgage advisers, lenders, brokers and other professionals working across the property and financial services sectors.

As a Consultant at SABZ Solicitors LLP, with a particular interest in property, conveyancing and the wider finance sector, I found the event extremely valuable. The discussions provided useful insight into current market developments, challenges faced by professionals and clients, and the importance of effective collaboration between solicitors, mortgage advisers and lenders.

Events like this are a great reminder that strong professional relationships and knowledge-sharing play an important role in delivering a better service to clients.

Thank you to the organisers and everyone I had the opportunity to meet. I look forward to staying connected and continuing the conversations.

🇬🇧 UK IMMIGRATION & VISA UPDATE | 9 SEPTEMBER 2026

A NEW STATEMENT OF CHANGES TO THE UK IMMIGRATION RULES HAS BEEN PUBLISHED — HERE ARE SOME DATES TO WATCH 👀🇬🇧

The UK Home Office published Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules (HC 584) on 3 September 2026.

The changes do not all take effect on the same date, so the date you make an application can matter. 👇🏽

📌 8 OCTOBER 2026

A number of changes will come into force, covering areas including the Skilled Worker route, Student route, EU Settlement Scheme, Long Residence, family-related routes and other immigration provisions.

📌 29 OCTOBER 2026

Changes affecting the Minister of Religion and Temporary Work – Religious Worker routes are scheduled to take effect.

📌 30 NOVEMBER 2026

Changes to the Student route maintenance requirement are scheduled to take effect. This relates to the annual uplift of the required maintenance funds.

📌 9 DECEMBER 2026

A further change relating to the EU Settlement Scheme and biometric residence permits is scheduled to take effect.

🎓 GRADUATE VISA REMINDER

There is also an important date for people planning to apply for a Graduate visa:

➡️ Applications made on or before 31 December 2026 generally qualify for a 2-year Graduate visa.

➡️ Applications made on or after 1 January 2027 generally qualify for 18 months.

➡️ Graduates with a PhD or other doctoral qualification can still receive 3 years.

⚠️ PLEASE TAKE NOTE:

These changes do not mean that every applicant will be affected in the same way.

Immigration rules depend on your visa route, circumstances and the date your application is made.

Before submitting an application, always check the latest requirements on GOV.UK or seek appropriate professional advice where necessary.

Today, we successfully concluded our online legal webinar on “Access to Justice and Digital Transformation of Courts in Pakistan.”

On behalf of the Association of International Lawyers (AIL), I would like to extend my sincere gratitude to everyone who joined and participated. Your presence, engagement, thoughtful questions, and valuable contributions made the session truly meaningful and productive.

A special thank you to Hon’ble Justice Muhammad Azam Khan for sharing his valuable insights and expertise on such an important and timely topic. His perspectives on the future of digital justice and court transformation were both informative and inspiring.

It was encouraging to see legal professionals, academics, and participants from different backgrounds come together to discuss how technology can enhance access to justice and strengthen judicial systems.

Honoured and humbled to attend the prestigious Youm-e-Marka-e-Haq celebration in Manchester and to receive the Pakistan Prestige Award 2026 in recognition of my legal services as a Solicitor of England & Wales.

It was a privilege to be part of such a meaningful and memorable evening celebrating unity, excellence, and the contributions of the Pakistani community.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the organisers, especially Dr Liaqat Malik, Barrister Irfan Malik, and the entire team, for their kind invitation, warm hospitality, and for arranging such a wonderful event.

I am especially honoured that the award was presented by Syed Qamar Raza, Chairman BoG Overseas Pakistanis Foundation; Barrister Amjad Malik, Vice Chairman of Overseas Pakistani Commission Punjab; Nasim Feroz Gondal, Consul General Manchester; and Dr Liaqat Malik, Chairman DM English News Channel.
