⚖️ NOT GUILTY VERDICTS – LIVERPOOL CROWN COURT ⚖️

After three years of uncertainty, emotional turmoil and complex legal proceedings, our client has been unanimously acquitted of all charges at Liverpool Crown Court, following just 90 minutes of jury deliberations.

Our client faced serious allegations of assault by pe*******on made by his daughter.

Throughout the proceedings, the defence conducted a meticulous examination of the prosecution’s case, carefully scrutinising and challenging the evidence presented, including complex medical evidence and testimony from expert witnesses.

Through thorough preparation, detailed analysis and robust advocacy, the defence was able to highlight significant weaknesses and inconsistencies within the prosecution’s evidence.

Following the conclusion of the trial, the jury returned unanimous verdicts of NOT GUILTY on all counts.

Can ChatGPT really help prepare your defence?

AI tools such as ChatGPT can, in some circumstances, be useful for finding general information or helping you formulate questions. But when you are facing a criminal allegation, there is a significant difference between obtaining general information and receiving advice tailored to your defence.

Our team is increasingly seeing documents prepared using ChatGPT and other AI tools by accused persons seeking answers and support during what can be an extremely difficult and stressful time.

The concern is that every case is different.

The detail behind an allegation can be deeply personal and sensitive. Context matters. Evidence needs to be carefully considered. What may appear to be a minor detail could have a significant impact on how a defence is prepared and presented.

AI does not replace the judgement, confidentiality and individual attention of an experienced legal professional who understands your circumstances, has considered the evidence and can advise you on the implications of what you say or submit.

⚖️ THE CPS HAS OFFERED NO EVIDENCE — BUT WHAT DOES THAT ACTUALLY MEAN?

If you’re facing a criminal prosecution, hearing that the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is offering no evidence can be a hugely significant moment.

Put simply, it means the prosecution is not proceeding with the case against you.

Where the CPS offers no evidence on all charges, the court will ordinarily enter not guilty verdicts and the prosecution comes to an end. ✅

But why might this happen?

The CPS may review a case and decide that there is no longer sufficient evidence to provide a realistic prospect of conviction, or that continuing the prosecution is no longer in the public interest. Developments in the evidence or representations made on behalf of the defence can also lead to a case being reconsidered. This is exactly what our team did in this case, presented information during trial preparation which led to undermining the whole case against our client.
