There’s no legal right to take time off to watch the World Cup (or any other sporting event). But if you’re hoping to catch the game, a polite conversation with your boss is probably your best tactic.

Offer to make up the time, swap shifts with a colleague, or suggest bringing the match to the workplace. A TV in the break room and a few pizzas could do more for team morale than another Zoom meeting.
