Markets have also recently priced in the possibility of several Base Rate increases. While we don’t expect all of these to materialise, the key takeaway is that market expectations can change quickly, sometimes overnight.

With fixed-rate borrowing potentially moving back above 5%, and possibly closer to 6% in the coming months, the market could remain challenging until inflationary pressures begin to ease.
