On 21st July 2025, a tragic incident occurred at the Mill Yard development site in Cambridge, managed by Morgan Sindall, where a contractor lost their life due to fatal injuries. Despite immediate medical attention and the arrival of the East Anglian Air Ambulance, the worker could not be saved.
The site, part of a ยฃ90 million mixed-use project (including residential flats and commercial spaces), has now been closed until further notice. Both Morgan Sindall and the client, Railpen, have extended their condolences to the affected family and are cooperating with health and safety officials during the investigation.
This incident is a sobering reminder of the real risks involved in construction, not just for builders, but for homeowners and developers too. As investigations continue, questions around site management, safety protocols, and risk mitigation once again take center stage.
