What does it take for legal teams to move from a support function to a true business enabler?

This question was at the heart of the Legal 500 GC Summit Peru 2026, which brought together General Counsel, in-house teams, and advisors for a day of discussion on how the legal function is evolving across Latin America.

Throughout the Summit, one message stood out clearly: legal teams are no longer operating in the background — they are increasingly embedded in strategic decision-making, helping to shape growth, enable investment, and manage complex risk environments.

Key themes included the role of legal as a driver of business performance, the expanding strategic influence of the General Counsel, and the growing impact of AI on legal service delivery and external counsel relationships. Regional perspectives also highlighted both the opportunities and complexities across key Latin American markets.

From regulation and investment to innovation and technology, the discussions reinforced how central the legal function has become to business success.

A huge thank you to all our speakers, attendees, and partners for the insight and engagement they brought to the event.

With thanks to Santiváñez Abogados, Pellerano & Herrera, Flor Bustamante Pizarro & Hurtado, Estudio Muñiz Abogados, Thomson Reuters, and Aguilar Castillo Love for their support in making the Summit possible.

ESG continues to play a defining role in the legal sector – and last week’s Legal 500 UK ESG Awards reinforced just how far the industry has come 🌍⚖️

The awards brought together leading individuals and firms driving meaningful progress in sustainability, social mobility and diversity, with 32 categories recognising excellence across the profession.

What stood out most was how embedded ESG has become in legal practice today – shaping client relationships, influencing firm strategy, and being actively reflected in culture and decision-making, rather than sitting as a standalone initiative.

From clean energy advisory work to leadership in DE&I and social impact, this year’s winners reflect a profession increasingly focused on long-term, measurable change.

Congratulations to all winners and shortlisted firms 👏

Inclusive leadership is no longer optional – it’s a strategic priority.

Legal 500’s Diversity & Inclusion Forum 2026 in Colombia brought together senior leaders, legal experts and business professionals to explore how organisations can build more inclusive, equitable workplaces across the region.

From the outset, the message was clear: DEI must be embedded into business strategy and culture – not treated as a standalone initiative.

One of the highlights of the day was the panel discussion, “Engagement Forward: Building Business with Social Purpose”, where speakers shared practical insights on aligning commercial objectives with meaningful social impact – and, crucially, how to turn intention into measurable, sustained action.

Throughout the forum, a consistent theme emerged: lasting change comes from translating DEI commitments into long-term, practical action that drives innovation and strengthens engagement.

The event closed with a strong sense of momentum and shared purpose, reinforcing the Forum’s role as a leading platform for advancing diversity and inclusion in the region.

A sincere thank you to all our speakers for sharing their expertise, and to everyone who attended and contributed to such thoughtful and engaging discussions. We are also grateful to our event partner, Holland & Knight LLP, for their support.
