Most of us never think twice about the talcum powder or face powder in our bathroom cabinet. Hannah Fletcher had no reason to either.

At just 41, Hannah was diagnosed with mesothelioma, a cancer caused by asbestos. She had never worked with asbestos or encountered it at home. The source was traced to something far more ordinary: the talcum powder and cosmetics she had used since childhood.

Talc and asbestos are often mined from the ground in close proximity, which means contamination can happen. It is a risk very few people know about.
