How is CLC conveyancing study structured?

The standard academic pathway moves from the Level 4 Diploma to the Level 6 Diploma in Conveyancing Law and Practice. Confirmed prior learning or qualifying professional experience may change the modules a learner must complete. The diplomas satisfy the academic part of the route but do not grant a CLC licence.

Law Training Centre’s CLC diplomas are studied online around work, with recorded lectures, tutor support and an exemptions check before you start.

What work does IAA Level 1 cover?

IAA Level 1 preparation covers the framework needed for straightforward immigration advice.

This includes areas such as the Immigration Rules, application procedure, supporting documents, fees, decisions, nationality and case progression.

Just as importantly, learners must understand the limits of Level 1 work.

The syllabus also covers how to recognise matters that fall outside Level 1 competence and may need to be referred to a higher level or another appropriately authorised professional.

Important distinction: IAA Level 1 is not only about knowing what work can be handled. It is also about knowing when a matter falls outside that level of competence.

What does IAA Level 1 training prepare you for?

IAA Level 1 training and the regulator’s assessment are separate.

Law Training Centre’s IAA Level 1 Training Course is designed to help learners prepare for the current Level 1 syllabus.

The Immigration Advice Authority controls adviser registration, assessment eligibility, assessment booking and authorisation. Completing a training course does not, on its own, give permission to provide regulated immigration advice.

Course completion can provide evidence of training, but it is not the same as IAA registration or authorisation.

Important distinction: course enrolment does not register an adviser or guarantee an assessment place.

Planning to take the IAA Level 1 assessment? You can start preparing before the next assessment dates are announced.

The IAA has indicated that Level 1 assessments are expected to resume from November 2026, with sittings offered more frequently than before. Exact dates are still to be confirmed.

Law Training Centre's IAA Level 1 Training Course has been updated for the 2026 syllabus and opens for access on 30 November 2026.

You will have eight weeks to work through on demand lectures, practice questions and mock assessments, helping you build your knowledge and become familiar with the assessment format before booking your sitting.

You do not need a law degree to begin this route. You will, however, need to register with the IAA before sitting the assessment, and the assessment itself is booked directly with the IAA once dates are available.

Starting your preparation early gives you more time to learn, practise and prepare with confidence.
