Caroline Black, White Collar Crime Consultant at Gherson, attended the historical walking tour organised by the London Chapter of the Women's White Collar Defense Association (WWCDA).

The tour explored the history of the City of London, including Roman Gladiatorial arenas, anchorite cells and the site of the city’s first coffee house.

One of the key topics discussed at the European Fraud Lawyers Association (EFCL) and Fraud Lawyers Association (FLA) Joint Conference recently attended by Caroline Black and Thomas Cattee in London was the growing use of Civil Recovery powers and Unexplained Wealth Orders (UWOs) under POCA. The keynote highlighted the continued expansion of non-conviction-based asset recovery measures in the UK, which places a heavy burden on those responding to such actions.

The conference also covered the government’s desire to erode the right to jury trials, corporate liability changes and trends in UK and European enforcement. It provided an excellent opportunity to exchange perspectives with fellow practitioners from around Europe and discuss emerging trends across fraud, economic crime, extradition and regulatory enforcement.
