On the 4th of July, I have officially graduated from University College London with the LL.M in Intellectual Property Law!

UCL ranked eighth in the 2020 QS World University Rankings, making it the top-ranked institution in London, third in the United Kingdom, and fourth in Europe.

In 1878, UCL became the first British university to admit women on fully equal terms to men. In 1888, Elizabeth Orme became the first woman in England to receive a law degree from UCL.

UCL has changed my life in many incredible ways. I have met the most amazing, motivated and talented people, I have worked with the top practitioners from all over the world. It was truly one of the best time of my life. As a proud part of the UCL Alumni I will use my knowledge wisely and responsibly to make a difference.❤️

Good morning! ☀️

As my profile description mentions, I do support Creative Commons. In general, art plays a great role in my life, and I find it crucial to support young artists.

It was one of the main reasons why I agreed to participate in Legal Tutorial Sessions for London College of Fashion, organised by .other.stories with the support of . Apart from immigration enquirers, creative students reached me with one simple question: how to protect my idea?

A simple answer: you can’t protect your ideas. 🤷🏽‍♀️ Only expressions can be protected! So, when you share your brilliant concepts and thoughts, be careful.

There was one shocking thing for myself: I received the identical request for patent registration from two different students, from two different areas of studies, two separate years of graduation, overall, two unrelated human beings, but somehow with one “unique” idea. Of course, each of them was convinced that the project is novel and must be patented ASAP.

At this point, the patent (if being granted) would belong to the fastest applicant! 😏 Fair? Unfair? But it is how it is.

Options to consider:
1. Protect your name by registering trademark
2. Protect your invention by patenting
3. Non-Disclosure Agreement protection
4. Manage your intangible assets wisely
5. Use © and be careful with new EU Directive
