Still riding the high from an incredible summer celebration last Thursday!

The Lloyds PR Solicitors team came together at the beautiful Hunton Park Hotel in Hertfordshire to mark another successful year — a year defined by hard work, dedication, and exceptional results in criminal defence.

With drinks, a BBQ, and a few competitive games, we celebrated more than just achievements. We celebrated the strong bonds, friendships, and team spirit that make our firm what it is.

A huge thank you to every member of our team — none of our success would be possible without your commitment and talent.

Here’s to many more milestones ahead!

We did it! 🙌

Yesterday, the Lloyds PR Solicitors team took on the London Legal Walk 2025, walking 10km alongside thousands of others in support of free legal advice charities 💙

It was an amazing (and very hot!) afternoon in our capital, with lots of laughter, ice cream stops 🍦 and a well-deserved drink or two at the end 🍻

A massive thank you to everyone who donated—we smashed our target! 💥👏

Lloyds PR Solicitors successfully represented the lead defendant in a large and complex multi-defendant case, charged with human trafficking, controlling prostitution and money laundering.

These types of cases are notoriously very difficult to win.

After a re-trial, held at Southwark Crown Court over a three-month period, the defendant was acquitted. She was accused of leading an Organised Criminal Group over a number of years and benefiting extensively from controlling s*x workers from Romania.

The Lloyds PR team tackled hundreds of thousands of pages in evidence and dealt with cross-jurisdictional issues. Our sizeable team consisted of knowledgeable lawyers that spent copious amounts of time in analysing the evidence and putting together a case strategy. Further, we instructed specialist experts that greatly assisted the defence approach.

The case was led by Prasad Palihawadana (partner), Manoj Rupasinghe (partner) and Ieva Giedraityte (solicitor). They were assisted by a number of paralegals including Rio Baldwin.

A huge thank you for superb and committed work by our leading counsel Julian Jones of 2 Harcourt Buildings and junior counsel Amelia McKey of Lloyds PR Solicitors.

Lloyds PR Solicitors represented a man at St Albans Crown Court who was accused of killing his wife at home in January 2022.

The defendant called the police himself immediately and always admitted being responsible for killing his wife. The Crown sought a conviction for murder in this case.

Despite facing a charge of murder, Jay Nutkins secured bail for the defendant at the first Crown Court hearing. A number of experts were instructed, and gave evidence before St Albans Crown Court.

After a trial before a jury, the Court of Appeal gave further rulings on law and the case was then placed before High Court Judge Mr Justice Cavanagh who gave a further ruling on the law. Ultimately the defendant was not convicted of murder, but after significant and complex legal arguments, he was convicted of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility.

The defendant received a suspended sentence of 1 year and 8 months suspended for 2 years on the 11th October 2024 which is one of the lowest sentences ever passed in a homicide case. The defendant did not spend a single day in prison as a result of the work of Lloyds PR Solicitors.

Lloyds PR Solicitors had a number of lawyers working on this case, supervised by Manoj Lakmal Rupasinghe (Partner) and led by Jay Nutkins (Litigator with conduct), assisted by Amelia Mckey (barrister) and Calum Murray (paralegal). Instructed counsel were Jenni Dempster KC of Red Lion Chambers and Nicola Roberson of Foundry chambers.
