Changes to Immigration news- coming into affect in Spring 2024
1. UK Government announced a substantial 66% increase in the Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS), set to take effect from 16 January 2024.
2. Care workers will not be allowed to bring dependants (that is, partners and children) on their visa.
3. The minimum salary to be sponsored for a Skilled Worker visa will increase from £26,200 to £38,700 (but not for the Health and Care Worker visa, which includes social care, or for education workers on national pay scales).
4. Changes to the shortage occupation list, to reduce the number of jobs, to sponsor overseas workers below the baseline minimum salary.
5. The minimum income requirement for a sponsor under the spouse/partner visa will rise from £18,600 to £29,000, then increase to £38,700 in the future.
6. The Migration Advisory Committee will review the Graduate visa, a two-year unsponsored work permit for overseas graduates of British universities.
