The Home Office and Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) are working with DCMS as it develops proposals for new legislation to establish a Identity and Attributes Trust Framework. This framework will set out the rules and standards for organisations to follow in order to carry out secure, trustworthy, and consistent digital identity checks.

Following the positive feedback received about the ability to conduct right to work and right to rent checks remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, the Home Office initiated a review of the availability of specialist technology to support a system of digital checks in the future. The Home Office recognises the benefits the adjusted checking process has brought and are mindful of the shift towards increased hybrid and remote working models. As a result, the Home Office will enable employers and landlords to use certified Identification Document Validation Technology (IDVT) service providers to carry out digital identity checks on their behalf for many who are not in scope to use the Home Office online services, including and citizens. The relevant changes to legislation will take effect from 6 April 2022.

Enabling the use of IDVT for right to work, right to rent and DBS checks will help to support long-term post working practices, accelerate the and onboarding process, improve and enhance the and
integrity of the checks.

Further details on how organisations become certified will be available in early #2022.

The UK has announced that all 11 countries will be removed from the UK's travel red list from 4am on Wednesday.

The countries on the list are: Angola, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The red list was reintroduced in late November as a precaution after the emergence of the variant. But Health Secretary Sajid Javid said it had spread so widely the rules no longer had much purpose.

"Now that there is community transmission of Omicron in the UK and Omicron has spread so widely across the world, the travel red list is now less effective in slowing the incursion of Omicron from abroad," Sajid Javid told Parliament.

Temporary testing measures for international travel will remain, and removing all 11 countries from the travel red list will be effective from 4am tomorrow morning. Moreover, all UK arrivals from red list countries are required to pay for and self-isolate in a pre-booked, government-approved hotel for 10 days.

But with all 11 countries being removed from that list, it was confirmed that those currently in managed quarantine would be allowed to leave early and "follow the rules as if they had arrived from a non-red list country".

- Employed by non-Spanish companies
- Have an income with less than 20% earned from Spanish companies

The new visa will also ease the process of applying for residency on arrival. As it stands, it is necessary to register for a permit with local municipalities within 30 days of settling in Spain.
