⭐️ Save this post ahead of your future vacation schemes!

In this series, we have broken down the key parts of a vacation scheme – sessions, networking, socials and in‑seat work – and how to get real value from each.

In-seat work is your chance to step into the shoes of a Linklaters trainee. You will sit within a practice group, work closely with your principal and get involved in live matters. It is your chance to see how big deals and complex cases come together behind the scenes, and to experience the pace, collaboration and excitement of life in a leading global law firm.

Throughout the scheme, you’ll be given assessed tasks, real work from your principal and the opportunity to collaborate with your cohort on a group client pitch exercise.

1️⃣ Put yourself out there and ask for work

Do not wait for every task to come to you. If you have time, tell your principal and the team that you have capacity and would be happy to help on anything they are working on.

2️⃣ Manage time and expectations clearly

If you are given multiple tasks, note the deadlines and relative priorities. If timings clash, speak up early and ask which should come first. Showing that you can organise your workload and communicate clearly is just as important as the quality of the final product.

3️⃣ Ask for feedback and use it

After you complete a piece of work, ask for specific feedback. It shows that you want to continuously develop, helps you refine your approach during the scheme and gives you concrete, constructive examples to draw on in interviews.

🌎♻️The UK’s first carbon capture mega-project is here. And it’s a big deal.

We helped finance the projects kickstarting the UK’s CCS industry — capturing CO₂, sending it under the North Sea, and storing it deep underground.

The challenge? CCS is so new, there wasn’t a clear precedent for how to structure a deal like this.

Why it matters:
🚀Millions of tonnes of CO₂ captured
🚀New infrastructure at scale
🚀A blueprint for future net zero projects

Behind the scenes?
Banks backed it. Lawyers structured it – helping define how the risks are shared.

And our trainees didn’t sit on the sidelines. Swipe to see what they worked on 👉
