🇺🇦 Ukrainian innovation in Silicon Valley: Sterling Law at Endeavor Ukraine Meet & Grit

On 21 August, Endeavor Ukraine Meet & Grit brought together Ukrainian entrepreneurs, investors and members of the global tech community in San Francisco, just ahead of Ukraine’s Independence Day.

The Sterling Law team was delighted to be part of it.

The evening was centred around entrepreneurship, technology, AI, international growth and, importantly, the Ukrainian innovations making their mark on the global stage.

The keynote speakers included Anton Pavlovsky, Founder & CEO of Headway Inc and Endeavor Entrepreneur; Dmytro Dzhulgakov, Co-founder & CTO of Fireworks AI, who previously spent more than a decade at Meta; and Boris Cherny, Creator & Head of Claude Code at Anthropic and former Principal Engineer at Meta.

It was also impressive to see how quickly the Endeavor ecosystem is developing in Ukraine. Launched in late 2024, the Ukrainian office already supports 21 entrepreneurs across 12 ambitious companies, including Preply, Ajax Systems, Solidgate and Kiss My Apps.

Endeavor Catalyst, the organisation’s global co-investment fund, has also backed Ukrainian-founded companies including Headway Inc and HOLYWATER TECH.

For us, events like this are an opportunity to be present where Ukrainian businesses are building international connections, meeting investors and partners, and exploring opportunities in new markets.

And behind international growth are always practical legal questions: business structure, market entry, immigration strategies for founders and key talent, investment, commercial agreements and intellectual property protection.

This is exactly where the Sterling Law team works with entrepreneurs - helping businesses navigate the legal side of international growth and build strong foundations for their next stage.

Thank you to Endeavor Ukraine for bringing Ukrainian innovation to San Francisco and creating a space for meaningful conversations, new connections and future partnerships. 🇺🇦🌎

What if the Home Office inspected your business tomorrow - would your Sponsor Licence survive? 🇬🇧

Getting the licence is only the beginning. A mismatch in salary, job duties or HR records can put your business at risk of suspension or even revocation.

The best time to find compliance issues is before the Home Office does.

Your employer offers you £20,000 to sign a Settlement Agreement. Would you take it?

Before you say yes, ask a better question: what are you giving up in return?

Bonus, commission, reference, confidentiality, restrictive covenants and future legal claims can make the real value of the deal very different from the number on the first page.

💼 Before you sign, let Sterling Law review the full picture, identify what can be negotiated and help you secure the best possible terms.

One clause in your funding agreement could dramatically change how much of your own company you still own after the next round.

It’s called anti-dilution protection — and the difference between a weighted average and a full ratchet can be significant for founders.

In this video, we explain what happens during a down round, which provision founders should watch for, and why these terms should be negotiated before the term sheet is signed.

📩 Raising capital? Sterling Law can help you understand and negotiate the terms before they become a problem.
