Probate Fees Are Increasing Again!

If you’re applying for probate after the loss of a loved one, it’s important to be aware of some significant changes to government fees coming into effect this summer.

From 13 July 2026 (subject to parliamentary approval), the fee charged by the government for a probate application will increase from £300 to £526.

This represents a substantial rise of more than 75% since the last increase in 2024 and is likely to affect many families who are already dealing with the emotional and financial pressures of administering an estate.
