Extended family member- elements to satisfy.

Applicants arrived in the UK before their Sponsor, they were members of Sponsor’s household before coming to the UK and since their Sponsor arrived in the UK each of the applicants "has joined" the Sponsor in the United Kingdom, even though each of them arrived here before the sponsor.

The tribunal gave particular consideration to two questions: (1) whether there was a requirement of "accompanying or joining", so as to preclude a person from qualifying as an extended family member if he or she arrived in the United Kingdom before the EU national, and (2) whether a person who had been present illegally in the United Kingdom was precluded from qualifying as an extended family member. It answered both questions in favour of the applicants.

Graduate Immigration Route

The new route will be launched in the summer of 2021, meaning that any eligible student who graduates in the summer of 2021 or after will be able to apply for the route.

This includes students who have already started their courses. Universities will also be able to attract students starting in the 2020/21 academic year on the basis that they will benefit
