The evidence is showing that far from the funeral being the end of things, a bigger percentage of the population has to endure months of delays, and frustrations with many having to put their hands in their own pockets first. Gone are the days of burring your loved one, with the will being read at the wake, everyone happy with what is revealed, with a toast to the departed and now the final grieving process can start.
For an ever-increasing portion of the population, this is now sadly not the case. Thus the grieving process is delayed and painful emotions extended, with clear evidence of the increasing impact on people’s finances and mental well-being.
These issues are not going away and are likely to get worse before it gets better, especially when there is a growing shortfall of newly qualified solicitors and with many experienced professionals leaving the industry altogether. Who is going to be there in the future with enough experience to complete the work satisfactorily for all concerned or as the facts suggest more and more will fall on the shoulders of those less able and capable?
Q: Is this really the experience that you want for your loved one?
We know that obviously from our work with our customers that none want this or envisage this
would be an issue they’d have to face. Doing nothing does not make this problem go away, that
only hands control of the outcome to someone else and not of your choosing.
