The UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) has been transitioning to a digital immigration system, replacing physical documents with online records of a migrant’s immigration status. This online system, known as an eVisa, began implementation in 2020. All BRPs issued since then have been short-dated to expire by the end of 2024, while the Home Office continues to digitalize the system. To access their immigration status information online, individuals need to register for a UKVI account, which is free. The eVisa will serve as an online record of one’s immigration status and conditions for entry or stay in the UK.
