Professional support can make a significant difference-
from guiding you through the legal process
to helping you navigate financial disclosures

UK Skilled Worker Visa Approved… But Your Job Start Is Delayed?

A delay in your start date is not just a scheduling issue, it can have serious implications under UK immigration rules.

Under the 28-day rule, you are expected to begin your role within a defined timeframe. If your start date is pushed:

• Your employer must inform the Home Office
• A valid reason for the delay is required
• Ignoring this can impact your visa status

Common acceptable reasons may include notice periods, travel disruptions, or personal circumstances, but every case is assessed carefully.

Without a valid explanation, your visa may be at risk, and sponsorship could be affected.

At ANS Immigration, we believe compliance should never be left to chance.
Taking the right steps at the right time can protect your status and future in the UK.

If your job start has been delayed and you need clarity, our team is here to guide you with the right approach.

📢 Important Update for UK Sponsors! 🚨

The UK Home Office has introduced new compliance requirements from March 2026, making sponsor obligations stricter than ever. From maintaining proof that employees are informed about their rights to ensuring job roles, duties, and salaries meet exact requirements, this marks a significant shift in compliance expectations.

With compliance checks increasing, even minor gaps like unreported changes or role mismatches can put your sponsor licence at risk. It’s a critical time for businesses to review and strengthen their processes.

Don’t leave it to chance! Watch our latest reel to understand the key changes and how to stay compliant.

UK Skilled Worker Visa: Key Updates for 2026

The UK Government has introduced several updates to the Skilled Worker route through the latest Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules (HC 1691).

These updates form part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen compliance and refine the UK’s work migration framework.

Key developments include:

• Skilled Worker visa applications from Afghan nationals applying from overseas will be refused from 26 March 2026

• The English language requirement for settlement will increase from B1 to B2 from 26 March 2027

• Sponsors must ensure that Skilled Workers receive the required salary in each pay period

• In certain cases, previously enrolled biometrics may be reused for visa applications

While some changes take effect this year, others will be implemented later to give applicants and employers time to prepare.

At ANS Immigration, we believe that understanding immigration changes early helps individuals and organisations plan with confidence and remain fully compliant.

If you would like to understand how these updates may affect your circumstances or workforce planning, our team would be pleased to assist.

Illegal working raids in the UK are rising at an alarming rate.

Recent statistics show a 77% increase since July 2024, with arrests linked to illegal working up by 83%. This clearly reflects stricter action by Immigration Enforcement.

For employers, compliance is critical. Hiring someone without a valid right-to-work status can result in civil penalties of up to £60,000 per worker, along with reputational and operational risks.

At Ash Norton Solicitors, we help businesses carry out proper right-to-work checks and implement strong hiring procedures to stay fully compliant.

If you are unsure about your responsibilities, our team is here to guide you.

Switching Employers While on a Skilled Worker Visa in the UK?

Changing employers under the Skilled Worker route is not as simple as accepting a new offer.

In most cases, a change of employer requires a fresh Skilled Worker visa application, and proper timing is essential.

If you move to a new employer:

• The new employer must hold a valid Skilled Worker sponsor licence
• They must assign you a new Certificate of Sponsorship
• You must receive visa approval before starting work

Even where you remain with the same employer, a significant change in role or duties may require a new application.

Leaving your current sponsored or starting work before approval may breach your visa conditions and place your immigration status at risk.

At ANS Immigration, we believe career growth should never compromise your legal status.
Every move should be informed, compliant, and strategically planned.

If you are considering a change of employment and would like clarity on the correct steps, our team can guide you with practical advice and complete support.
