// CLIENT FEEDBACK //
It's always rewarding to receive positive feedback from our clients & this lovely testimonial for our Head of Employment & Commercial Tom Sutherland really brings home the importance of sound legal advice.
Tom provided advice to the employment law client on a Settlement Agreement and she was super-grateful to have the complex terminology explained and advice as to options on how to negotiate it.

As we approach the next phase of ’sLaw, it is becoming increasingly evident that October 2026 will mark a significant turning point for the social housing sector. Phase 2 expands the legislation to encompass a much broader range of Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) hazards.

In practice, the implementation of these measures is expected to reduce the volume of housing disrepair claims by shifting the focus away from reactive, court-led compensation, towards proactive hazard prevention. This change will drive greater accountability for landlords and, ultimately, contribute to safer social housing for residents.

Remembering our dear colleague & friend Alan Berg, who sadly passed away yesterday...

Alan, “Mr Berg” or “AB” as many of us remember him, joined Canter Levin & Berg in 1967 as a partner, subsequently succeeding Myer Canter as senior partner. He was very well known in Liverpool and beyond as a highly respected criminal advocate, representing clients in some very high-profile national cases. He remained as senior partner until 1994, when he became a provincial stipendiary magistrate for the Greater Manchester area.

AB was responsible for a considerable expansion of the practice, both in terms of work types and the opening of several branch offices across Merseyside. Like many early leaders of the firm, he had deep roots in the local area and his work within the Liverpool Jewish community and the broader Merseyside region has provided a lasting legacy in local legal and community circles.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family and close friends.

We have a new neighbour!
What a fantastic addition to our riverside community - the stunning stone artwork, which sits in pride of place just outside our offices, is inspired by the River Mersey's rich folklore.

Artist Patric Rogers has explained what is behind the sculpture, which has won the annual Liverpool Sculpture Prize, which is organised by our other neighbours, Liverpool BID Company

What's your thoughts? We love him!
