It’s 2026 and did you know that owls aren’t so large as they seem? They’re all feathers!

A fun fact for you this afternoon is that the term ‘parliament’, used to describe a group of owls, gained popularity through C.S. Lewis’ work. Though originally, the solidifying of the phrase came from English poet, Geoffrey Chaucer’s “The Parliament of Fowls” in the 14th Century.

Many types of owls are now facing a decrease in population due to threats to their environment. It is a goal of wildlife organisations to improve conservation of the species. Take a moment to have a think about these fantastical animals today.

Rangers are recognised as the “frontline defenders of planetary health” and do so much for the world’s ecosystems and biodiversity that we don’t see.

It’s and a time to appreciate rangers worldwide who have a risky but vital job. At Northwood Banks, we are big supporters of our local community, but sometimes we take the time to bring attention to global heroes that deserve just as much attention. The work of rangers trickles all the way back down into our lives in ways we cannot begin to fathom.

We are also reminded that some of the best things for us are not always seen but put in a lot of effort behind the scenes. Like a for example, you create one, think about it occasionally if it needs updating, but often it remains unseen. That is until the time comes that you pass and suddenly it becomes of upmost importance to your loved ones when it comes to carrying out your wishes.

Hopefully we’ve given you something to ponder today.

Sometimes, life doesn’t go as planned and a loved one loses capacity. In the case there is no valid Lasting Powers of Attorney, you must apply for a Deputyship Order through the Court of Protection.

The Court of Protection is a court set in place to make decisions for those who do not have the mental capacity to do so themselves. Should a loved one wish to become an attorney, they must apply for a Deputyship Order. However, note that this does not guarantee that the person making the application will be appointed as the attorney.
