Dependent children can move to the UK based on their relationship with a parent who holds specific types of immigration status in the country.
Child Dependent visas are designed for children who rely on their parents for financial and emotional support. Generally, the child must be under 18 years old at the time of application, unmarried, and not living independently. Exceptions may apply in cases where the child turns 18 during the application process or in special circumstances, such as ongoing dependency due to illness or disability.

The ETA scheme is a form of advanced digital permission to travel to the UK, broadly equivalent to the ESTAsystem in the US. Visitors to the UK from countries in Asia, North America, South America, Africa and Oceania who previously did not require a UK Visa, will require an ETA for UK travel from 8 January 2025 onwards, and can apply for their ETA from 27th of November 2024.

UK visitors from EU/European economic area countries would require an ETA from 2 April 2025 and are able to apply for one from 5 March 2025 .
This means that those who do not need to apply for a Visa and do not already hold UK immigration status from the relevant dates above be required to obtain an ETA in advance of travelling to transiting through the UK .
To obtain an ETA, applicants will need to submit basic personal information (passport details, travel plans etc) online or through a mobile app. They will also answer questions related to security, criminal records and their travel intentions and pay the £10 application fee..
Once the ATA application has been approved, applicants should receive a decision within three working days, but they may obtain a decision more quickly. If the application is approved, the ETA will be valued for two years and will permit multiple journeys.

English proficiency levels are measured using the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). Depending on the visa category, different levels are required:
• A1: Basic English, typically required for initial spouse or partner visas.
• A2: Basic English, necessary for those applying for a visa extension in the family category after 2.5 years in the UK.
• B1: Intermediate English, necessary for settlement (ILR) and citizenship applications, as well as some work visas.
• B2: Upper-Intermediate English, generally required for student visa applicants enrolling in higher education courses.
The specific level required depends on the visa type, with higher levels expected for skilled workers and students.

The Graduate Visa allows international students to stay and work in the UK for two years. After this period, an employer who wishes to continue employing a graduate must sponsor them for a Skilled Worker Visa.
To switch to a Skilled Worker Visa, both the employer and the employee must meet specific eligibility criteria. The employer must be a sponsor approved by the Home Office.
It is important to note two key points:
1. The visa switch must occur before the Graduate Visa expires.
2. The applicant must remain in the UK, Isle of Man, Channel Islands, or Ireland until the Home Office makes a decision on their application. If this condition is violated, the application will be withdrawn by the Home Office.
