Parnalls Solicitors Katherine Flashman Kitson attended the Birmingham Royal Ballet Junior Company, BRB2's tribute to Diaghilev and Les Ballets Russes at The Hall for Cornwall.
Katherine says "I actually attended this production last year at the new Sadlers Wells East and I loved it so much, I couldn't believe it when I saw it was coming to The Hall for Cornwall, 30 minutes from where I live. I am fascinated by Diaghilev and Les Ballets Russes and have read widely about the Company and its work. This performance showcases Fokine's Les Sylphides, the intense and romantic Le Spectre de la rose, which I always imagined being danced by the Vaslav Nijinsky, his sister Bronislava's Les Biches, the fabulous Firebird, but my personal favourite an excerpt from Scheherazade, the slave dance which is an incredibly sensual pas de deux. Lovely to see it on home turf and the young dancers did a good job. But oh, what I would have given to see the original company perform these pieces in Monte Carlo in the early twentieth century. What a dazzling spectacle that would have been".
