Interim contact arrangements are temporary arrangements made while family court proceedings are ongoing, helping provide children with stability, routine, and continued relationships with both parents until a final decision is made.

Every case is different, and the court will always focus on what is in the child’s best interests. These arrangements can also be reviewed and changed as proceedings progress.

Court bundles are one of the most important parts of preparing for family court proceedings. While this post briefly explains their purpose, a bundle itself can contain a wide range of important documents that help the court fully understand the case and the issues being raised.

A properly prepared court bundle may include witness statements, position statements, previous court orders, communication evidence, chronologies, CAFCASS reports, and other supporting documents relevant to the proceedings. Keeping these documents organised and easy to follow can help hearings run more efficiently and reduce unnecessary confusion or delays.

For many litigants in person, preparing a bundle can feel overwhelming, especially when trying to meet court deadlines and formatting requirements. Good preparation and organisation can make a significant difference when presenting your case in court.

Co-parenting is rarely easy, especially when emotions are still high after separation. However, the way parents communicate and manage disagreements can have a lasting impact on children over time.

Keeping communication calm, child-focused, and consistent can help reduce conflict and create greater stability between households. Small changes in communication can often make a significant difference to long-term co-parenting relationships.

At Finley James, we understand how challenging family proceedings and co-parenting arrangements can be. Our focus is on helping individuals approach matters constructively, practically, and with the child’s wellbeing at the centre of every decision.

Understanding the court process can feel overwhelming, especially when you are trying to present your position clearly under pressure.

A well-prepared position statement helps the court quickly understand the key issues in your case, your concerns, and the outcomes you are asking the court to consider. It can provide structure, clarity, and focus before a hearing begins, particularly in cases involving ongoing disputes or large amounts of paperwork.

At Finley James, we assist clients in preparing professional, organised, and easy-to-follow court documents designed to help individuals feel more prepared and confident throughout proceedings.

Arguments and reactive communication during family disputes can create long-term difficulties that are often hard to repair later.

In the heat of the moment, it is easy to send messages or respond emotionally, but repeated conflict can gradually damage trust, communication, and co-parenting relationships over time.

Remaining calm, measured, and child-focused is often far more effective than reacting impulsively. Strong communication is not about “winning” an argument. It is about creating stability, reducing conflict, and protecting long-term outcomes for everyone involved, especially children.

At Finley James, we support individuals through family court proceedings with practical, professional McKenzie Friend assistance focused on clarity, preparation, and constructive communication throughout the process.

Did you know you can make a silent emergency call by dialling 55 after calling 999?

If you are in danger or unable to speak safely, pressing 55 after calling 999 can transfer your call to the police, allowing them to try to help without you needing to talk.

Sadly, many people involved in abusive, controlling, or high conflict family situations are completely unaware this option exists.

Knowing small pieces of information like this could make a significant difference in an emergency.

Please consider sharing this post. Somebody on your friends list may need to see it, even if they never say anything publicly.

We’re proud to support initiatives that contribute to something bigger.

We at Finley James will be joining the Hull Incorporated Law Society Legal Walk, raising funds for the Access to Justice Foundation, a charity that supports free legal advice services across the UK.

We see every day how important access to support is, especially for those navigating the family court system without representation.

If you’re in a position to contribute, or would like to find out more, we’d love to hear from you.

Thank you to everyone supporting the cause.

We know that many people facing family court proceedings are already under significant emotional and financial pressure.

That is why, from 08.06.2026 to 12.06.2026, every service provided by Finley James will be completely free as part of our Pro Bono Week.

Whether somebody needs guidance with documents, hearing preparation, court paperwork, or general support as a litigant in person, we want to make help more accessible to those who may be struggling to navigate the process alone.

Family proceedings can feel overwhelming, particularly without the right support and preparation. If we can relieve some of that pressure for even a small number of people, then this week will have been worthwhile.

If you know somebody who may benefit from this, please feel free to share this post or tag them below.
