💡 LPA FAQs: Your Questions Answered!

❓ What is a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA)?
An LPA is a legal document that lets you choose someone you trust to make important decisions on your behalf if you’re unable to — due to illness, accident, or loss of capacity.

❓ Are there different types of LPAs?
Yes! There are two:
Health & Welfare LPA – Covers medical treatment, care, and living arrangements.
Property & Financial Affairs LPA – Covers managing your finances, bills, and property.

❓ When does an LPA take effect?
Your Property & Financial Affairs LPA can be used (with your permission) even while you have capacity.
Your Health & Welfare LPA can only be used once you lose capacity.

❓ Who should I choose as my attorney?
Pick someone you trust completely — ideally a family member, or close friend, — who understands your wishes and will act in your best interest.

❓ Why should I have one now?
Life is unpredictable. Having an LPA in place ensures your wishes are respected and loved ones aren’t left making tough choices or facing delays through the Court of Protection.
