Our Supreme Court Resource Centre keeps growing. It now covers the judgment itself, official guidance, Parliamentary questions, Court of Protection updates and expert commentary, all updated as new developments land.

It also asks a question worth sitting with. If fewer people meet the threshold for a DoLS authorisation, who continues to check in on their wishes and feelings? Independent scrutiny has often come through that process. Its role may need to be rethought.

On 2 June 2026, the Supreme Court handed down its judgment in AG (Northern Ireland) (AGNI), overturning the Cheshire West "acid test" and introducing a significant change to the legal framework for deprivation of liberty.
