Why you shouldn’t wait to set up a Lasting Power of Attorney

If tomorrow you couldn’t make decisions for yourself, who would speak for you?

When it comes to planning for the future, most people focus on making a Will – but a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) is just as essential.

An LPA is a legal document that allows you to appoint the person or people you trust to make decisions on your behalf if you ever lose the ability to do so due to illness, injury or age-related conditions. It helps ensure that your wishes are respected during your lifetime, and that someone you choose-not the courts- is in charge of managing your affairs.

There are two types:

Property & Financial Affairs LPA – allows your chosen representative to manage your finances, pay bills and handle property matters

Health & Welfare LPA – covers decisions about medical treatment, daily care, living arrangements and more.

Without an LPA in place, your loved ones may face significant delays, additional costs and stress before they are able to help you.

At Williams Beales & Co, we provide clear, expert and compassionate guidance to help you set up an LPA with confidence. Having an LPA in place can bring real peace of mind.
