Anyone involved in or facing divorce proceedings will usually want to get it over with as quickly as possible. Divorce can obviously be very stressful, and the sooner it is concluded, the sooner the parties can move on with their lives.

As we will see in a moment, four years ago divorce law in England and Wales underwent perhaps its biggest change in its history. And the change actually greatly simplified the law. But despite that simplification there remain many misunderstandings and misconceptions about the law.
