๐Ÿ‘ฅ Death of an Executor or Beneficiary
๐Ÿผ Birth of Children or Grandchildren
๐Ÿ  Acquiring or Selling Property

What is a Consent Order and why is it important? ๐Ÿค”

Many people assume that once a divorce is final, financial matters are automatically settled. In reality, this isn't always the case.

A Consent Order is a legally binding document that sets out the financial agreement reached between you and your former partner. Once approved by the court, it provides certainty and helps protect both parties from future financial claims.

A Consent Order can help with:
โœ” Dividing property, savings and investments
โœ” Reaching agreements about pensions
โœ” Providing financial certainty for the future
โœ” Helping prevent future financial disputes

While every situation is different, having a Consent Order in place can provide valuable peace of mind and ensure your agreement is legally recognised. ๐Ÿ’™

If you're going through a divorce or separation and would like advice on Consent Orders or financial settlements, our experienced Family Law Team is here to help.

After seeing all the beautiful views that Eastbourne has to offer, the team ended the day at The View Hotel for a well deserved rest and a cold drink ๐Ÿป

๐Ÿšถโ€โ™€๏ธ The countdown is on - just one week until the Eastbourne Legal Walk 2026!

Next Thursday, the MCT Solicitors team will be lacing up our walking shoes and joining others from the local legal community for the 10km walk in support of local advice charities.

Weโ€™re proud to be taking part in an event that helps fund organisations providing free legal advice to those who need it most. Every donation helps these charities continue their invaluable work, ensuring people can access support during some of lifeโ€™s most challenging moments.

Thereโ€™s still time to support our fundraising efforts. If youโ€™d like to help make a difference, you can donate here:

How are child arrangements decided after a separation? ๐Ÿค”

When parents are unable to agree on arrangements for their children, the most important consideration is always the child's welfare and best interests.

Things to consider include:

โœ” The child's wishes and feelings (depending on their age and understanding)
โœ” Their emotional, educational and physical needs
โœ” Maintaining stability and routine
โœ” The ability of each parent to meet their needs
โœ” Any concerns about safety or wellbeing

Many families are able to reach agreements through discussion or mediation, but if an agreement cannot be reached, the court can make a Child Arrangements Order.

At MCT Solicitors, our Family Law Team provides clear, practical advice to help parents understand their options and make informed decisions for their children ๐Ÿ’™
