These events are an opportunity for people who were involved in, or affected by, the events at Orgreave Coking Plant on 18 June 1984, to learn more about the Inquiry and, if they wish, share their experiences and perspectives.

Hepburn's values and spirit still course through the veins of trade unionists.
Yesterday, the Durham Miners' Association had the pleasure of hearing from Fran Heathcote , Mary Kelly Foy MP Simon Kennedy &, Alan Mardghum .
Ian Lavery MP, Matt Wrack , General Secretary of the NASUWT and a great number of trade unionists were present.
Alfie Joey , a son of a miner, articulates the importance of the Durham Miners' Association's work to ensure that miners lead and organise events for the pit communities, including the Thomas Hepburn Memorial Service.

Yet another memorable Thomas Hepburn Memorial Service today. We had the pleasure of many former miners, including sacked miners from the 1984/85 strike and their families join us for this special annual service held to celebrate Thomas Hepburn's life and the solidairty he overtly displayed to his fellow workers.
Mary Kelly Foy MP and Simon Kennedy ( Nasuwt North East ) gave readings, Fran Heathcote ( General Secretary of PCS) delivered a powerful lecture linking Hepburn's efforts to today's challenges in workplaces and society. Ian Lavery MP attended to lay a wreath on behalf of the North East Area NUM. General Secretary of the NASUWT, Matt Wrack was also in attendance.
We thank the Durham Miners’ Association Brass Band , Bill Elliott and the pupils from the XP School for their talented contributions to the service.
Rev Lucy led the service for the fourth consecutive year with warmth.

Thomas Hepburn Memorial today 11am.
Join the Durham Miners' Association and leading trade unionists, Labour politicians and friends at St Mary's Church, Heworth, Gateshead to celebrate the life of Thomas Hepburn, a pioneer who made huge sacrifices for his union and miners.

Orgreave Inquiry Update:
The Durham Miners' Association's campaign to bring the Orgreave Inquiry to the Durham Coalfield has been succesful. On 12th November members of the Inquiry Team will be pressnt at Redhills Durham to listen to those who were present at Orgreave on 18th June 1984. Families of those who were present are also encouraged to attend.
Stephen Guy, Chair of Durham Miners' Association , called for this event to happen from the platform at the Durham Miners' Gala . Now the DMA are urging as many former miners to attend between 10am and 5pm on 12th November. This is our best chance of securing justice.
Those wishing to attend, must register in advance.
