Don't miss the upcoming Aberdeen HR Club, taking place on Thursday 10th September 2026.

Hosted by Gillian Donald, Partner and Blair Duncan, Director, in our Employment Team, the session will begin with an update on the latest developments in employment law before exploring trade unions and industrial relations, including what HR professionals and managers need to know.

With significant changes being introduced through the Employment Rights Act 2025, employers should be aware of what is changing and how it could affect their workplace.

A number of measures are expected to take effect from October 2026. We'll look at the new duty to provide employees with information on their right to join a trade union and the new rights for unions to access workplaces. We will also cover how formal union recognition and industrial action work in practice.

This free, interactive event brings together HR professionals, managers and business owners to discuss key employment law developments, explore practical case studies and put questions directly to our team.

Spaces are limited. Please register now:

Renewable energy projects and diversification schemes are creating valuable opportunities for landowners across Scotland.

Managing rural land or an estate often involves a range of interconnected legal issues. Land law, tax and succession planning, tenancy and landlord matters, sporting rights, diversification and conservation can all affect how land is owned, managed and developed.

Taking a joined-up approach allows you to consider how each issue may affect the wider picture, rather than treating individual matters in isolation.

Seeking the right advice at an early stage can help you plan with confidence, manage potential costs and avoid unnecessary stress, whether you're managing an estate day to day or preparing for the next generation.

Blackadders' Rural Land & Business team advises farmers, landowners, estates and rural businesses across Scotland, providing practical legal advice tailored to the challenges and opportunities of rural ownership and management.

We’re excited to announce our Gala Fundraising Dinner, taking place at The Chester Hotel, Aberdeen, on Thursday 8 October. The event is in aid of our Charity of the Year, Children's Hospices Across Scotland.

Led by Gillian Donald, Partner in our Employment team and a CHAS Trustee, the evening will support Blackadders’ ongoing fundraising for CHAS.

This cause is deeply personal to us, as CHAS provided Gillian’s family with invaluable care and compassion following the loss of her son, Fin.

It promises to be a memorable evening, with a drinks reception, a delicious three-course dinner with coffee and w**e, inspirational speakers, auction, raffle and games. This will be followed by live music from the talented Rhianne Armstrong and the Heartland Band.

Tables and individual seats are now on sale through the link below. Whether you’re joining with colleagues, clients or friends, this is a fantastic opportunity to enjoy an unforgettable evening while helping Blackadders raise vital funds for CHAS.

Secure your place today and be part of an evening that brings people together for a cause that makes a lasting difference: https://loom.ly/Zd9oqVU

We were proud to sponsor this year’s Thainstone Spectacular in Inverurie.

A highlight in the Scottish agricultural calendar, the event brought together livestock exhibitors, rural businesses and visitors from across the region to celebrate the very best of the sector.

Last week, Ian Angus, Partner in our Rural Land & Business team, attended the show on behalf of Blackadders and was delighted to support such a well-established event. It was fantastic to see so many exhibitors taking part and to celebrate the quality and commitment on display throughout the day.

At Blackadders, we have long been committed to Scotland’s rural communities. Our Rural Land & Business team advised landowners, farmers, estates, developers, conservation organisations and rural businesses on a wide range of legal matters across Scotland.

We are proud to have been the main sponsor of this year's Edinburgh Gliterary Lunch, a stunning event which saw Laura McDowall and Emma Gray hosting on the day.

The lunch brought guests together for an afternoon combining good food with literary conversation, as part of the wider Edinburgh Festival programme.

Authors Helen Bain and Sara Sheridan talked through their latest books, The Daffodil Days and The Jewel Keepers, giving guests a closer look at the stories behind them, and provided a fantastic opportunity to meet the authors face to face.

Supporting the event gave us a chance to back Scotland's literary scene and spend an afternoon with a genuinely engaged group of guests.

We were delighted to support this fantastic event and see so many people attending.
