True vintage books make lovely presents for those who are hard to buy for - or even as a treat for yourself - so why not indulge. Our cabinet in Edith's features some of the rarer books in our collection and to help you, we've even loosely attached a summary of the book together with the price. The display is changed regularly so do pop back and take a look at what's on offer. Better still - come to our Vintage Book Fair: 9-15 November. This year, for the first time, we'll be taking over the book marquee and so you'll be able to and browse literally hundreds of books at a fraction of their on-line price. Also recently donated are a whole load of crime and action hardbacks as well as some books with a local meaning. Just right for curling up with in those lengthening evenings. Available in Edith's Bookshop and the Book Corner now - but hurry - they won't be there for long!

Our secondhand bookshop is full of surprises, but finding White Cliffs in a vintage Ladybird book was a real treat! The Story of Flight (1960, revised 1972) features an illustration of Bleriot's famous 1909 arrival at Dover, against a backdrop of the White Cliffs. If you are into classic books, look out for our next Vintage Book Fair, 9-15 November. Details in the link below. Images ©National Trust/Richard Meadows

The servery will remain open with our usual selection of hot drinks, some cakes and scones, soup, pasties and sandwiches. We're sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
