IMPORTANT UK IMMIGRATION UPDATE
A new Statement of Changes to the Immigration Rules (HC 584) has been published today β 3 September 2026.
One of the key changes is greater protection for Skilled Workers who experience exploitation or modern slavery.
πΉ Eligible victims will have greater freedom to leave exploitative employment and take up work in any occupation for the remainder of their existing visa.
The changes also expand the UK's participation in Erasmus+, including opportunities for:

π Training
πΌ Traineeships
β½ Certain sporting activities
There are also important changes affecting:

Family Returns Process
β
Fee waivers and biometric enrolment
β
Hong Kong BN(O) dependants

Student visa maintenance requirements

Victims of Domestic Abuse
β
Immigration compliance and suitability rules

The changes come into effect from 8 October 2026, with different provisions starting on different dates.
