Kew Law’s frequently asked questions – Family Law

Question: How long will it take to complete my divorce?

Answer:
The Courts state that a divorce can be concluded within a minimum period of 26 weeks from the date of the application for divorce being issued by the Court. Please bear in mind, though, this time frame is likely to be extended if you need to resolve matrimonial finances with your spouse, or if there are difficulties with service of documentation upon your spouse.

Contact Kew Law today to book an initial consultation with a solicitor in our family team; they will discuss your requirements and offer advice on the best way to proceed. What is a Clean Break Order?

A clean break order in divorce means that once ordered by the Court, no further financial claims can arise between the parties following a divorce or dissolution. It therefore also means that the parties’ financial connection to each other is severed.

*Only in exceptional circumstances can an order be revisited, e.g. fraud.

Check out our free legal guide titled “Do you need a financial order in divorce or dissolution?” on our website under “helpful guides” for more information about clean breaks and financial orders. Head to: https://ow.ly/rT9V50ZwSve

The key reasons to have a valid Will

Without a valid Will, your estate is subject to the rules of intestacy, which may not reflect your preferences and can create unnecessary complications for your loved ones. A Will allows you to control the distribution of your assets, appoint trusted executors to manage your estate, and protect dependents through guardianship and trusts.

A Will protects your family and gives peace of mind that your affairs will be handled as you intended. Check out our free legal guide “Why is Making a Will Important?”: https://ow.ly/zGQS50ZuAqE

In the meantime, contact Kew Law on 0800 987 8156 to discuss your Will with a private client solicitor.

Kew Law’s frequently asked questions – Wills, Trusts and Probate

Question: How often should you update your Will?

Answer:
We would generally recommend that you review your Will every few years and also after any major life event, such as marriage, divorce, the birth of children and grandchildren, moving house or starting a new business. Minor amendments or alterations can sometimes be made to your Will by using a Codicil, which is a supplemental document varying the terms of your Will.

Book an initial consultation with our private client team to update your Will today by calling 0800 987 8156. We also offer home visits and meetings via Teams or Zoom if you are unable to visit the office in person; head to: https://ow.ly/AzUR50ZuAi6
