Day 7 - Glen Markie - old Coignafearn Lodge
Next two days are long ones. Glen Markie is beautiful but there are no paths which makes for slow going. Ollie is far quicker having young legs and patiently waits for me to catch up. Highlights of the day - we are certain we saw a Golden Eagle being harassed by a crow. With true acrobatic display we watched the eagle perform a 180 degree aerial spin sending the crow packing. Sadly, no pictures.

Day 6 Fort Augustus- Glen Markie
Set off late after breakfast of porridge, eggs and scotch butterys. It was a long ascent through Glendoe Forest (but not really a forest), through the wind farm to a great little camping spot.

And we’re off again.

Day 4 Glen Garry to Caledonian Canal
The midges are out in force! Oh what joy. Hey ho - we managed to find a pub later on in the day. It’s a TGO rule - you can’t pass by.

Day 3 Kinbreack to Glen Garry
Ok - you’ve got the idea. We wake up and we walk. Glen Kingie is beautiful. If you want to see how small and insignificant we are - walk through the valley of Glen Kingie. The terrain is still boggie. I managed to lose my balance and fell into a bog above my knee. Not a nice experience.

Day 2 Oban Bothy - Kinbreack Bothy.
The best way to describe the scenery in Glen Pean - it almost resembles a scene from the film Jurassic Park. You could imagine a brontosaurus appear from behind the trees. Because it is so remote, it is untouched and a pleasure to walk through (except for the boggy terrain). Again, no paths for a firm footing. It is slow going but exceptionally beautiful. My photos don’t do it justice. We finished at Kinbreack Bothy with the majesty of Glen Kingie before us.

Day 1 - Lochailort-Oban Bothy on Loch Morar.
After a great evening on the beach at Arisaig Ollie and I made our way to the start point, Lochailort Hotel. I did this stretch a year ago but I knew Ollie would love the challenge. My better described it the toughest starting point. I have to agree. No paths (other than a short one to Meoble), a steady climb, and unforgiving boggy terrain. Add to it the great sunny weather and it became a tortuous hike to get to the end. It took us till 7pm. Exhausted, we put up our tents, had something to eat before falling into a deep sleep.

**EMERGENCY: GAZA NEEDS YOUR HELP NOW** 🚨
Right now, Palestinians are enduring **unimaginable violence**—families torn apart, children trapped under rubble, and hospitals under siege. This is a **humanitarian catastrophe**, and we cannot stay silent.
I’m joining **Stride for Palestinians** to raise **urgent funds** for life-saving medical aid, food, and shelter. Every second counts.
