DTM Legal We are a firm of solicitors with offices in Chester and Liverpool.

01/10/2026

Today we’re celebrating 18 years of DTM Legal and we thought our birthday was the perfect opportunity to officially launch our new website.

A lot has changed since DTM Legal was established 18 years ago. We’ve grown our teams across Chester and Liverpool, expanded our services and continued to build long-standing relationships with the businesses and individuals we support.

Our new website reflects the firm we are today, making it easier to:

🔹 Explore our legal services for businesses and individuals

🔹 Meet the DTM Legal team

🔹 Access useful legal insights and information

🔹 See feedback from our clients

🔹 Find the right team and get in touch

There has already been plenty of birthday cake in the offices, and now that DTM Legal is officially old enough to drink, we might have to continue the celebrations at the pub!

Thank you to all of our colleagues, clients and professional contacts who have been part of the DTM Legal journey over the past 18 years.

Edward Barnes, Tom Evans, and Louise Harcombe had a great afternoon of networking, friendly competition and putting their knowledge to the test!

Thanks to Andrew Byrne and Legal Alliance for organising a great Legal Quiz and Networking Lunch, hosted at Moneypenny’s impressive offices.

It was a great opportunity to catch up with fellow professionals from across the legal community - with a little healthy competition thrown in too.

A special congratulations to Ed Barnes, who had the pleasure of being part of the winning quiz team!

Have you been offered a Settlement Agreement by your employer?

Before signing, it is important to understand exactly what you are agreeing to and how the terms could affect your rights. You will also need to receive independent legal advice for the agreement to be legally binding.

Our Employment Law team can review your settlement agreement, explain the terms in clear language, advise you on whether the offer is appropriate and, where necessary, help negotiate on your behalf.

If you have received a Settlement Agreement and need independent legal advice, speak to Tom Evans and the DTM Legal Employment Law team.

AI is already changing the way workplace issues are raised, managed and challenged. But what does that mean for employers and HR teams?

Join DTM Legal’s Tom Evans and Louise Harcombe for Ctrl+Alt+Grievance: AI, HR and Workplace Claims - a practical session exploring the growing impact of AI in the workplace.

We’ll look at how employees are increasingly using AI when preparing grievances, appeals and Employment Tribunal claims, the challenges this can create for employers, and the practical steps HR professionals and business leaders should be considering.

If you work in HR, people management or run a business, this session will provide practical insight into an issue that is only going to become more important.

📍 4 St Paul’s Square, Liverpool

20/08/2026

Cohabiting couples currently have far fewer legal protections than married couples or civil partners, but proposed reforms could significantly change the position.

The Government is considering changes that could introduce greater financial protections following the breakdown of a cohabiting relationship, helping to address some of the difficulties couples can face under the current law.

In our latest article, Liz Dubkova looks at:

- The current legal position for cohabiting couples
- What protections may be introduced
- How the proposed reforms could affect separating couples
- Why it remains important to understand your rights and consider protecting your position now
