Court clarifies ‘parental responsibility’ for fathers named on birth certificates...

The Court of Appeal has confirmed that a man who is wrongly named on a birth certificate does not automatically acquire parental responsibility if he is not the child’s biological father.

The judgment makes clear that legal fatherhood under the Children Act 1989 is limited to biological or genetic fathers, meaning parental responsibility in these circumstances may never arise in law.

Our marketing team had a day away from their desks to visit Hexham Tennis Club, Tynedale, taking a look at the clubhouse ahead of something exciting happening later this month!

It was great to see the courts so busy and, as proud sponsors of the padel club, it’s always a pleasure to spend time here. We can’t wait to be back very soon…

Patel v O’Sullivan: High Court Upholds Validity of Final Will…

A July 2020 Will executed just weeks before Mrs Patel’s death has been upheld by the High Court, despite a legal challenge from her daughter.

The claim argued lack of knowledge and approval, as well as undue influence, but both were ultimately rejected by the court.

⛳ A fantastic day of community spirit and fundraising at the Hospice at Home charity golf day! ⛳️

Cassie Bradley, Marketing & Events Assistant and Tracy Beckett, Legal Secretary had a fantastic day volunteering and representing Team Cartmells at the Hospice at Home Carlisle & North Lakeland charity golf day at Carlisle Golf Club today.

Stationed on the 17th hole (the party hole!) they were joined by Richard, Russell and pro golfers Archie Davies and Nicky Tibbetts Golf.

From DJing, dancing and serving refreshments to keeping a watchful eye on ‘Beat the Pro’, it was all great fun and in support of a brilliant cause!

Nuffield Health trainer awarded £148k after raising MOD safety concerns…

An employment tribunal has awarded approximately £148,000 to a personal trainer after finding she suffered detriment and was constructively dismissed for raising concerns about Ministry of Defence fitness testing procedures.
