Buying a home with a partner, friend or family member?
One question often gets missed: how will you own it together?
π Joint tenants: you own the whole property together, and if one of you dies, it passes to the other automatically.
π₯ Tenants in common: you each own a set share, and you can leave it to whoever you choose in your will.
Itβs worth getting right at the start, especially if youβre not married, as the intestacy rules donβt protect unmarried partners.
