Hello to all my new followers! 👋 Since the page has been growing lately, I wanted to pop on and introduce the 'face behind the name' here at Cowbridge SLT.

I’m Helen, a Speech and Language Therapist with nearly two decades of experience supporting children and young people across South Wales 💬

I qualified in 2006 and spent many rewarding years working within the NHS, supporting individuals with Additional Learning Needs, neurodevelopmental needs, developmental delays and syndrome-specific communication profiles. I also have experience helping children with eating, drinking, and swallowing needs.

In 2020, I stepped away from my NHS role to focus on my young family, and now work part-time in academia, helping to train the next generation of Speech and Language Therapists 👩‍🏫

In December 2025, I founded Cowbridge Speech and Language Therapy, allowing me to combine my passion for clinical work with my academic role.

I have a special interest in supporting children and young people with Down Syndrome, as well as working with children in the early stages of communication—providing assessment and tailored intervention to help every child develop their communication skills.
