Six healthcare workers were cleared of criminal damage in February, at the end of a case that had been in the news, on and off, since 2022.
Four doctors and two nurses broke glass at JP Morgans London offices during a climate protest. The first trial ended with a hung jury. The second found all six not guilty.
People will have strong views about the protest itself, and Im not going to add mine.
What interests me is the trail it leaves. There were headlines when it happened, when they were charged, and when the first jury couldnt agree. The acquittal is one more article in that list, and it wont necessarily be the one that comes up first.
For a doctor or nurse, that matters. Patients look them up, and so do employers.
The law is on the side of the outcome here. Where a charge was reported and the person was later acquitted, there is a strong case under UK data protection law for making the current position the prominent one.
Most people assume a verdict updates everything automatically. It doesnt.
